Head Boys’ Basketball Coach – Immediate Opening
Brighton High School
Brighton High School is accepting applications for the position of Head Coach for the Boys’ Basketball Program. This is an immediate opening. A teaching assignment may be available depending on candidate qualifications and district needs.
Position Summary:
The Head Boys’ Basketball Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the basketball program while promoting academic achievement, sportsmanship, and character development. The coach will create a positive, competitive environment that supports student-athletes in reaching their full potential both on and off the court.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct and oversee all phases of the boys’ basketball program

Plan, organize, and conduct tryouts, practices, and competitions

Instruct student-athletes in skills development, game strategy, and physical conditioning

Emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic success

Serve as a positive role model for students and represent the school with professionalism

Ensure the safety of student-athletes, including proper training techniques and injury prevention

Supervise athletes during practices, games, locker rooms, and team travel

Maintain and monitor the condition and use of equipment and facilities
-
Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, school staff, and administration
-
Ensure compliance with all district policies and Utah High School Activities Association regulations

Complete all required reports, eligibility documentation, and program records

Manage program budgets and financial responsibilities appropriately

Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful team environment
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Previous experience coaching basketball at the high school level (head coaching experience preferred)
-
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
-
Knowledge of current coaching methods, training techniques, and game strategy

Commitment to student-athlete development both academically and athletically
-
Resume including all previous coaching experience, as well as a clear indication of which subjects the candidate is licensed to teach (if also applying for a teaching position).

Candidate must complete all required UHSAA courses, new hire paperwork, and completion of Register my Athlete/Coach account within 2 weeks of hire and before coaching duties may begin.
